St. Patrick's Day. Lawrence (10 of August)
Lawrence was one of the deacons participating in Rome in the pontificate of Sixtus II (257-258). He died a martyr's death on the orders of Emperor Valerian. When he refused to give up church treasures, he was condemned to death by being burned alive (according to historians, he was executed by beheading). In the past, he was one of the most important saints, but at present there is no celebration in his honor in the Catholic Church.
According to the folk tradition, gingerbread will be eaten on this day ginger and washed down with wine with the same taste.
