St. Patrick's Day. Ambrose (4 April)
Saint Ambrose was born in 340 r. in Germany; he studied law in Rome, and finally became Bishop of Milan. He was a great orator. His gift served him in the fight against heretics, who at that time often acted against the teachings of the Church. He is the patron saint of beekeepers. According to legend, when he was a child, bees flew into his mouth, doing him no harm.
Until the 18th century. honey was a sweetener and preservative. One of the oldest recipes for mead is recommended: “Place the quince in a wide-necked bottle, cover with willow twigs and pour over the finest honey ". This is how the "melomel" is created, which supposedly has healing properties. Same as wine with honey content.
