Motherhood Sunday

Motherhood Sunday

In Anglo-Saxon countries, on the fourth Sunday of Lent, children give their mothers bouquets of violets and small gifts.. They used to bring them also cookies with dried fruit – therefore it is worth trying on this day dried fruit and nuts wine. Cookies, called "simnel" (from Latin "simila" – "The best flour"), they commemorate two biblical events: feast, which Joseph gave for his brothers, and I ate through Christ's distribution of the poor. On this day, priests refer to them during the mass.
