The gunpowder plot – Guy Fawkes night (5 November)

W 1604 r. there was a conspiracy, whose goal was to blow up the London Parliament and kill the king. Lord Monteagle is said to have received a letter on the eve of the attack, in which he was reported of the plot, but the lord's inspection of the cellars found no traces of him. The search resumed at midnight and Guy Fawkes was captured, who was getting ready to set fire.
5 On November, other celebrations are also organized. In Shebbear, Devon, there is a tradition of knocking over "Devil's Stone", which rests under an oak growing in the market.
